Looking back at the CBD COP 16
|
Dear IKI partners and friends,
At the CBD COP 16, held in Cali, Colombia, from 21 October to 1 November 2024, the international community took another important step towards the conservation, sustainable use and restoration of nature. After several, sometimes lengthy, negotiating sessions, important decisions were taken with regard to implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). These included key agreements to improve the integration of biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation, and to strengthen the role of indigenous peoples and local communities.
In this edition of the newsletter, we provide an overview of the COP outcomes, as well as a review of the inspiring IKI networking event, IKI projects and IKI-funded partnerships that worked together at the conference on future steps for biodiversity conservation.
Enjoy reading!
Best regards,
Your IKI Communications Team
