Promoting a just energy transition
|
Dear IKI Partners and Friends,
Increasing the use of renewable energies and enhancing energy efficiency are key aspects of climate action. In the funding area of greenhouse gas mitigation, the International Climate Initiative (IKI) is therefore focussing, among other things, on the field of energy transition. However, the restructuring of energy systems and markets is challenging, especially when it comes to the technological and socio-economical aspects. IKI projects therefore aim to support the energy transition in partner countries and implement it in a socially just manner ("Just Transition").
In this issue of the newsletter, we present a number of projects that work in this IKI priority field of action. These range from supporting community-based electrification with photovoltaic mini-grids in Nigeria to participation formats for the energy transition in Indonesia and promoting a green recovery of Ukraine´s energy infrastructure.
And, while we´re here, don´t forget that the IKI Country Call Colombia is open until the beginning of September. We´re still looking for project ideas aimed at decarbonising the energy sector and relating to landscape restoration!
Enjoy reading!
Best regards,
Your IKI Communications Team
